Hey love, it’s Nnemoma.
Last time, we talked about "Why Free Souls Exists. We dove into why having a dedicated space for women of color to retire the "Strong Woman" narrative is a non-negotiable for our collective healing. But today, I want to get into the how. I want to talk about Sovereignty.
Here is the Truth we often ignore.
Most of us have been taught to treat our bodies like high-performance vehicles. We fuel them, we push them, and we only pay attention to the dashboard when a "warning light"—a migraine, a backache, or full-blown burnout—starts flashing. We’ve spent years outsourcing our well-being to experts, all while ignoring the most intelligent system we’ll ever own: our own nervous system.
Somatic Sovereignty is the end of that era.
It is the radical act of taking back the throne. It’s the realization that you and your body are the primary authority of your own healing. When your "mental tabs" are stuck on open, your body stays in a state of high alert. Somatic healing isn’t about "fixing" these feelings; it’s about creating enough safety in your own skin that your nervous system finally feels allowed to drop the armor.
The Intelligence of the Slow Down
We have to stop treating "slowing down" like a luxury or a sign of weakness. Our bodies are actually designed with a brilliant, built-in rhythm that rejects the 100-percent-at-all-times hustle. Look at your cycle—specifically the luteal phase. Your body inherently understands that this is a time for inward focus, conservation, and rest. It is literally slowing you down because it knows you cannot bloom all year round.
The intelligence is already there. The question is: Are we listening? When we ignore these subtle cues, we don’t just get tired; we lose our attunement to our own power. Tuning in isn't just a wellness trend—it’s how we ensure we are living lives that actually belong to us.
Practice Presence in the Soma Studio
If you’re ready to stop the "thinking" and start the "feeling," I’ve curated a space specifically for this internal reconnection. Soma Studio is filled with practices—from breathwork to somatic movement—designed to help you drop out of the noise of your mind and back into the wisdom of your body. It’s your sanctuary for the slow-down.
You’ve been the pillar for everyone else for long enough. It’s time to be the sanctuary for yourself—and the magnet for the life you actually want to live.
The Final Thought & Connection:
True sovereignty isn’t about having it all figured out; it’s about trusting yourself enough to feel what’s actually happening beneath the surface. When we stop performing and start listening, we stop leaking our power and start building our empire from a place of peace rather than pressure.
If you could give your nervous system permission to do one thing today—without checking your to-do list first—what would it be?
Drop or share your answer below. Let’s hold space for each other’s release. 🤎
