The Two Things Your Body Won't Let You Do

Your partner offers to cover things for a few months so you can build. You say no.
Someone offers to help you — real help, the kind you have genuinely been praying for. And when it arrives, you find you can’t receive it.
A client asks your rate and you hear yourself round the number down before it even leaves your mouth. Or you do the whole thing for free again and tell yourself it’s good for the portfolio.
Here is what I want you to see. Because once you see it, you really cannot unsee it.
Being seen and being paid are the same program, running in two different places in your body.
You already know visibility feels dangerous. What nobody tells you is that receiving feels just as dangerous, for the exact same reason. Asking for more, charging your worth, letting support come toward you, taking up that much space — to a body that learned safety meant staying small, all of that registers as a threat.
So you shrink the number. You carry shame around money even in the seasons when you are genuinely stretched and the help is sitting right there in front of you.
I had a client say something to me once that I still think about. “My habits toward myself cannot be mirrored in my business.” She had been treating herself like the intern who hadn’t earned it yet. And then wondering why the business kept reflecting that same energy back.
This is the receiving block. And it is not a character flaw, boo. Undercharging was never humility. It was your body doing the only thing it knew how to do to keep you safe.
The body that cannot be seen and the body that cannot be paid are running the same code.
And that is actually good news. Because it means you do not have two giant problems. You have one. It is not a problem with your worth or your discipline. It is a nervous system that has been holding its breath for a long time, waiting for the moment it finally feels safe enough to exhale.
No pricing strategy fixes this on its own. No money mindset course reaches it alone — because it speaks to the part of you that already agrees, while the part actually running the show never gets touched.
The body has to feel safe first. Safe to be seen. Safe to receive. That is the whole game. And most people are trying to play it from the neck up.
So before we talk about how you get free, there’s something you need to see about where you are right now.
Because you are not nowhere. You are somewhere very specific on a path. And nobody ever gave you the map.
